Ann Chapman from Ashford, visited St Peter’s Hospital on Thursday 13 November 2014, to present a cheque for £1,500 to the Intensive Care Unit in memory of her late husband Charles (Chas) Chapman who sadly passed away on 19 March this year in this Unit.

The money was raised by various activities and events starting from donations in lieu of flowers at Mr Chapman’s funeral; a family friend being sponsored to run 10K and a coffee morning where cakes were sold for donations towards this fundraising.

It was an emotional day for Ann as she visited the Unit, but she was greeted with hugs from the nurses on the ward who were pleased to see her.

Ann Chapman, speaking on behalf of herself and family said: “We’re really grateful to the staff and Doctors for all they did. Chas was given the best care and I couldn’t have asked for more.

“We wish the money to be spent in the ICU in recognition of the excellent care and attention Chas received during his illness.”

Den Hallett, Clinical Nurse Leader – Surgery, Theatres, Anaesthetics & Critical Care said: “On behalf of the critical care team, we’re extremely grateful for the amount of money raised by Ann Chapman and family and we will ensure that the money goes towards patient care within this unit.”
