At the stand

Members of the public were invited to find out how to prevent falls at an event held in the main reception at St Peter’s Hospital recently.

The event was part of the Trust’s Falls Awareness day aimed at preventing falls and sharing information and good practice.

Falls and fractures in people aged 65 and over account for more than 4 million hospital bed days each year in England alone.

Visitors got the chance to speak to various specialists from services and departments, bag a few freebies and enter a competition.

Cecilia Chapman, ASPH’s Falls Lead Nurse said: “A fall can have a devastating impact on someone’s life but there are many ways that people (particularly older people) can prevent falls from happening. Our Falls Awareness Day was designed to give visitors a few practical steps to help prevent falls in and out of the home.”
