At a time of year when countless people are jumping on bikes, putting on their walking boots or taking part in daring adventure to raise money for good causes, it is good to report that the Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust children’s A & E nurses who took part in the Three Peaks Challenge got safely to the top and back.

Staff nurse Lisa Dennis said: “The challenge was amazing! We managed Ben Nevis in 6 hours, walking in clouds (so poor visibility) and knee high snow at the top. Scafell took us 5 hours, in perfect walking conditions sadly we slowed by an hour due to injury. Finally Snowdon we completed in 4hrs 15 with amazing clear views at the top, but were down by 2 team members due to the previous injury plus unforseen illness! Our total climbing time was 15 1/4 hours, and overall the whole challenge was done in 29hours!”

The team are now collecting in their sponsorship money. They are hoping to raise £10,000 towards a new ventilator for assisting sick babies and children with their breathing.
