Does your dermatology department have nurses trained to draw bloods from outpatients in outpatient clinics?

Does your dermatology department have dermatologists trained to draw bloods from outpatients in outpatient clinics?

Does your dermatology department have access to tubes, syringes/needles in the department to draw bloods from outpatients in outpatient clinics and someone who collects or sends tubes to your bloods lab department etc?

Does your dermatology department draw either whole bloods, serum, plasma or draw only whole bloods but they put on the label that a whole blood-based test or serum-based test or plasma-based test is required to your bloods lab department etc? (by the way there are tubes with clot activator for serum after they are spun. There are tubes with clot inhibitor for plasma after they are spun)

1. Does your dermatology department have nurses trained to draw bloods from outpatients in outpatient clinics?

1 of the dermatology nurses is trained to take blood samples as she was ward based prior to working in the Dermatology Department.

 

2. Does your dermatology department have dermatologists trained to draw bloods from outpatients in outpatient clinics?

The dermatology clinicians do not routinely take bloods.

 

3. Does your dermatology department have access to tubes, syringes/needles in the department to draw bloods from outpatients in outpatient clinics and someone who collects or sends tubes to your bloods lab department etc?

We can access the required equipment for taking blood should an urgent need arise from the phlebotomy room located on level 2.

 

4. Does your dermatology department draw either whole bloods, serum, plasma or draw only whole bloods but they put on the label that a whole blood-based test or serum-based test or plasma-based test is required to your bloods lab department etc? (by the way there are tubes with clot activator for serum after they are spun. There are tubes with clot inhibitor for plasma after they are spun)

We draw whole blood and then request the specific test from the lab and the type of tube used depends on the test requested. We have both the tubes that have clot activator and clot inhibitor in them.
