1. What was the size of the patient population covered by your Trust in 2015?

Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust served a population of over 410,000 people living in the boroughs of Runnymede, Spelthorne, Woking and parts of Elmbridge, Hounslow, Surrey Heath and beyond in 2015.

 

2. How many patients were diagnosed with heart failure by your Trust in 2015?

372 – this is taken from all patients entered onto the National Heart Failure Audit database as being discharged with a diagnosis of Heart Failure (HF) during 2015 as a first admission with HF (i.e. not a readmission with HF)

 

3. Does your Trust follow NICE guidelines to support the diagnosis of suspected heart failure?

Yes, the Trust follows NICE guidelines.

 

4. Does your Trust follow NICE guidelines to support the management of chronic heart failure?

Yes, the Trust follows NICE guidelines.

 

5. Does your Trust use NTproBNP or BNP testing to support the diagnosis of heart failure in patients presenting through A&E?

The trust uses BNP testing to support diagnosis of Heart Failure.

 

6. How many NTproBNP tests were performed by your Trust in 2015? Please provide the manufacturer and brand name of the test used

19 tests were reported within 2015/16.

NT pros are set to TDL, as we do not offer this assay in house.

TDL use Roche Alexis model (electro, chem illuminescense ECL) as a manufacturer, and the brand name is Pro BNP.

 

7. Are there any restrictions for using NTproBNP or BNP tests? If yes, please explain

There are no restrictions on BNP test. NTpro BNP is not our first line service.

8,210 – this includes all echoes (TTE, TOE, Stress, Bubble, Complex)

4 weeks for outpatient department and 1 week for inpatients
