480 beds in the Trust.

Grundon Waste Management Ltd is the Trust’s contractor.

The Trust is unable to separate the clinical waste disposal cost; the total spend is £300,000 spend on all waste disposal.

 

5. Approximately, how many tonnes per year of clinical waste does your organisation have disposed of?

348 tonnes of clinical waste is disposed of per year.

 

6. How is the clinical waste rendered safe by the waste disposal company i.e. incinerated, autoclaved etc, and what is the percentage for each process?

Clinical waste is rendered safe two ways - by hydroclave 43% and high temperature incineration 47%
