Details of the Response

1. How many Information Governance staff are employed by the Trust? If any part of the service is outsourced please provide the name of the service provider.

The Trust has one dedicated Information Governance post, the Information Governance Manager, which is currently filled at 0.6 WTE. An estimated 0.4 WTE of the post of Head of Information Assurance is also used for Information Governance work.

 

2. What are the roles of the Information Governance staff at the Trust? Please include a brief description of each role, and the Agenda for Change band allocated to each role.

The Information Governance Manager is Band 7. The role includes:

  • IG advice, guidance and policy.
  • Managing compliance with, and uploading evidence to, the IG Toolkit
  • Handling and reporting of IG incidents and breaches
  • Advice on disclosures to the police
  • Liaison with the ICO
  • Management of FOI function

 

The Head of Information Assurance is Band 8C. This role includes:

  • Assurance of IG and FOI function and some day-to-day cover for IGM post.
  • Responsibility for Data Quality
  • Information support to income and contracts functions
  • Technical oversight of data warehouse team

 

3. To which directorate within the Trust does the Information Governance function report to? For example: IT, Risk, Governance etc.

Information Governance is part of Health Informatics which reports to the Director of Finance.

 

4. What is the annual cost for all Information Governance expenditure at the Trust? Please include the cost of staff salaries and any outsourced activity.

The cost centre that contains Information Governance covers costs for the whole Information Assurance function so it is not possible to answer this question. However there are no significant costs related to Information Governance other than staff salaries which can be estimated using the Agenda for Change pay scales available here.

 

5. What was the total annual expenditure of the Trust in 2015? If the exact figure is not available then an indicative figure would suffice.
